Q. On average, how frequently do you make home visits?
A. Visits are scheduled based on the individual needs of each client.
That being said, most clients living in a private home prefer a weekly
visit, while visits to facility-based clients range from bi-weekly to
monthly.
Q. How much time do you spend with a client on a home visit?
A. The first few visits may be as long as two or three hours each as
the care manager and client become acquainted. A home visit ranges between
30 and 90 minutes once the relationship has been established. Visits
to clients not in a private home setting are often shorter, since other
professionals can assist us with information needed to determine the
client's personal needs and issues.
Q. Can you accompany clients on shopping trips and/or doctors visits?
A. We do not regularly shop with a client unless there is a special
need or the particular item requires our expertise (medical equipment,
mastectomy products, prosthetics, etc.) Normally, we prefer to arrange
for a more cost-effective solution, such as a personal companion or
a shopping service. We do attend many medical appointments as well as
ensure the doctor's orders are properly communicated to the appropriate
parties. CareSource often serves as the client's medical
historian and is always a strong advocate for quality and appropriate
care services for our clients.
Q. Can you offer any references? Both private and professional?
A. Please see our References
and Testimonials Page.
Q. Can you handle clients who speak only Spanish?
A. Yes, and becuase of the number of Haitians living in Sotuh Florida, we hope the next staff person employed will speak Creole.
Q. Are you able to make legal and medical decisions?
A. When appointed as legal guardian, we are often required to make medical
decisions. Regardless of our relationship to the client, rest assured
that we are on the cutting edge of the ethical and legal issues regarding
healthcare and can help others to make difficult decisions, as well.
Q. Are your services covered by any insurance policies?
A. Some long-term care insurances will reimburse for geriatric care
management services. No matter what the form of payment, a detailed
itemization of all services rendered is given.
Q. What special training, insurance, bonding do you maintain?
A. With the exception of any new employees, all of our employees have successfully completed the state-mandated
training for professional guardians. Additionally, we encourage all
employees to attend Continuing Education training specific to their
individual expertise as well as offer regular Inservice training. We
maintain a General Liability Insurance policy as well as a state-mandated
Professional Guardian Surety Bond of $50,000. All our employees are
covered under the General Liability Insurance policy as well as the
Bond. (see About Us for more details regarding
each individual's professional background.)
Q. What are your hours if I need to reach you right away?
A. Our office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
(Eastern Standard Time) A care manager is on-call after hours for any
emergencies.
Q. Are you affiliated with any service provider or do you receive
any fees for referrals to service providers?
A. No. Nor do we pay any service providers for referrals. CareSource prides itself on the reputation we have in our community
and the fact that most of our referrals come from professionals who
have worked with us in the past.
Q. How do you screen the service providers you use?
A. CareSource strives to refer only providers of high
quality services and works with some of the premier service providers
in South Florida. Many of the providers we use have been rendering quality
services to our clients for several years.
